The 2018 season of Survival is full of scheduled opportunities for you to share your love of Pandemic at conventions, game festivals, or your local game store. Learn the ropes of Survival at casual discovery tournaments, or compete against some of the best teams in the world at competitive tournaments that culminate in the Pandemic Survival World Championships.
Can You Survive?
Pandemic set the bar for cooperative games when it was first released in 2008. Since then, the game’s unique premise and compelling design have attracted a large audience and led to several expansions and standalone games.
Pandemic Survival builds on this core strength and immerses players in an extreme version of Pandemic where teams of two face compete against the same scenario simultaneously with the same objectives in mind: be the first team to find all four cures or be the sole survivor at the end of the game. During these events, each team faces the same starting situation: identical roles, infected cities, and the same player cards in the same order.
Only their strategic choices can differentiate them and prove to be a winning or losing strategy. Successful teams are able to stay one step ahead of both the diseases and other teams by working as efficiently as possible. With a little more than a minute to complete each turn, Pandemic Survival is a thrilling experience unlike any other.
Test Your Skills
Participating in a Pandemic Survival event includes you in a global community. Tournaments take place across the globe, and it all beings at regional qualifiers where teams compete for spots in their National Championship. Those who win their National Championships earn the right to compete with the best of the best at the World Championships, with their airfare and accommodations fully covered as part of their prize! What’s more, the world championship team will be awarded with their choice of trip to any city location on the Pandemic board.
Each season of Pandemic Survival features distinct scenarios that will test all of a team’s Pandemic skills. Using roles from Pandemic and the On the Brink expansion, a scenario features a unique combination of player and infection cards to create a challenge that only elite players will be able to survive.
A Fresh Take on Pandemic
The Survival Series isn’t just limited to events. Each year a new standalone Survival Series version of Pandemic is released to coincide with the location of the World Championships. These special limited edition games feature the core cooperative gameplay that makes Pandemic so appealing while also enjoying a strong connection to the site of the World Championships.
The 2016 entry into the Survival Series, Pandemic: Iberia, takes players back to 19th-century Spain to battle four real-world diseases. Celebrating the World Championships in Barcelona, this entry put a historical twist on the traditional Pandemic format, forcing players to cope without many modern conveniences such as air travel.
This year’s National Championship winners will represent their countries at the World Championships in the city of Amsterdam! To celebrate the occasion, the latest Pandemic title, Pandemic: Rising Tide will be released to coincide with the World Championships. Rising Tide tasks players with saving the Netherlands from encroaching floodwaters. Uniquely adapted to the site of the Survival World Championships, Pandemic: Rising Tide is a thrilling new spin on the Pandemic formula.
