Carcassonne 20th Anniversary Instagram Photo Contest

If you’ve ever played the beloved Carcassonne, then you are probably familiar with the scoring system. If you place your meeples near things such as rivers, roads, cities, circus tents, and so much more, you score points. Well, now is your chance to put those skills to use in real life.

To celebrate 20 amazing years of Carcassonne, publisher Hans-im-Glück is holding a Meeple Photo Contest from now to August 15th, with winners receiving copies of Carcassonne 20th Anniversary Edition, and a chance at the grand prize, a 3-day-trip to the real city of Carcassonne (departure and arrival, admission fees, and more included).

“How do I use my Meeple placing skills to earn a shot at those prizes?” you ask? It’s simple. Grab a meeple and place it in front of something you could use to score points in a game of Carcassonne. There are several categories you can choose from, which will be listed below. This can be a multitude of different things, including a river, a road, or maybe a fountain or a field. Once placed, pull out your cell phone, switch to camera mode, and get a shot of that meeple with your chosen target in the background. Finally, upload it to your public Instagram profile with the following hashtags:

#What is in the picture & what is the category - Example: #road or #river

#Carcassonne20NA (your country code, for example NA for North America)

Remember, you have to upload to your Instagram account, and you can only enter 1 photo for each category.

Your photo will be scored based on category, as well as up to 3 extra points for creativity, so go big. A picture with a dragon or a volcano (or even a pig) gives lots of creative opportunities. What if your meeple was at the foot of a toy volcano, or if you sat it in front of your pet’s dragon plushie?!

There are a total of 14 categories, all ranging from 2 to 5 points. They are:

Road - 2 Points

Field - 2 Points

Fountain - 2 Points

Market - 3 Points

Inn - 3 Points

River - 3 Points

Tower - 4 Points

Dragon - 4 Points

Cloister- 4 Points

World Heritage Site - 4 Points

Cathedral - 5 Points

Circus - 5 Points

Volcano - 5 Points

Pig - 5 Points

As you can see, there are a variety of options to choose from. So, get creative between now and August 15th. Then, we select the winners.

The 20 contestants with the most points will receive a copy of Carcassonne 20th Anniversary Edition, and will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize of a 3-day trip to the city of Carcassonne, supplied by Hans-im-Glück. Only 5 will be selected to win this grand prize.
